Death X.ctg

Dec 28, 2009 · 0 comments

Here is again another book 1 week old Death X.ctg: http://uploading.com/files/154a3ef2/Death%2BX%2B%25281337chess.blogspot.com%2529.zip/

This is the final pferdchen 4 series, tuned 6.Be2 and 8...h5 and many more lines. You can send games and I will give you an updated version in the following days, only engine games whether internet or your private home, the more recent games the better. Then I will decide if they are of quality. And you can decide if you want to include it in my upcoming database release.

If you donate, again I might give you something special.

Regards,
Michael

-minimum games are atleast 25 games.
-games are all engine games and time control must be at least 3+0
-games may come from internet engine servers or in your own private computer
-games may not be against other public books or available to public (sedat chess or pioneer testing and likes)

For any engine games:
-minimum games are at least 400 games
-games are all engine games and time control must be at least 3+0

Precise Engine Testing - A new method of engine testing

Engine testing in a common way is rather simple, the common method is to set the two candidate engines, load a balance opening db such as nunn test suite or a balanced opening book with varied ECOs and set the match at tournament or blitz time control. This is done by popular engine testing sites such as CEGT or CCRL. The problem is with this of course is their accuracy and the time it takes for the tournament. It takes almost a year to test an engine and still has +/-10 elo error margin.

The new method takes a day or less, and has ~0.00 error margin, yes we will tackle the world of Micro-Elo :-)

War II.ctg

I introduce a new book War II.ctg, well it's rather a month old I was too busy and forgot to release it. New style again, like tuned 1.d4 as white. I made it simultaneously with 3 books including War I about a month ago. This is totally different book and not a continuation of War I, if you still like 1.b3 and 1.e4 e5 etc. you may use War I. It ranked number 5 on sedat chess rating list, it's only weakness maybe some of its black lines so watch out. Download

For those who donated thanks again. I will try to really send you something special one of these days :-)
If you like private talk, suggestions and sending games email me at mw2q2q@yahoo.com

Thanks.

Building a Cluster

Oct 18, 2009 · 0 comments

A cluster computer is basically many computers merged into one usually to perform a single task or process. A typical 'normal' cluster of course are blades, data centers and rackmounts but they will also cost more. Multiple desktops can also be used as a cluster, which is what I will be discussing in this post. A desktop cluster is of course cheaper.

The cluster I will be showing you today is of course build for small budget and for space saving. So we will be using Micro Atx boards and laptop hard drives so it can fit on our custom server rack which is a file cabinet.

2.5 Million Games Database

2.5 Million Games Database

Contains 2.5 million games mostly high rated and engine games in ChessBase database format.
download:
http://uploading.com/files/f1a8e879/database.part01.rar/
http://uploading.com/files/1d26fcmd/database.part02.rar/
http://uploading.com/files/faf4ad9f/database.part03.rar/
http://uploading.com/files/24b64765/database.part04.rar/
http://uploading.com/files/df222b54/database.part05.rar/
http://uploading.com/files/bf2a22d6/database.part06.rar/

You have to download all parts, put all in same directory and extract part01 to properly extract the database. You can also download all parts simultaneously instead of downloading one by one. Good Database for book making.

Computer Chess

3 types:

Engine Chess: Tune your engine to make it play better chess, most people don't know how to do this.
Hardware Chess: Assemble your own custom hardware into playing good chess. Good if you're rich you can get the latest parts esp. CPUs.
Book/Opening Chess: Tune your opening books so that your Hardware/Engine Combo can play good chess. This is the most 'engine players' do (and what I also do), if book is good enough you can beat faster hardware and stronger engine.

Softwares I mostly use:
Rybka 3
Fritz GUI
Chessbase 9

Hardware I use:
Intel Quad Core Q9550, yup that's all and my only prized possession :-)
